Founded by North Charleston native Neshama Bonneau, Palmetto Future Scholars was born from a desire to invest in the future of the community she proudly calls home. A military wife, mother of three, and Registered Nurse, Bonneau has dedicated her career to caring for others and understands the importance of building strong foundations early in life. As she considered how to make a lasting impact beyond healthcare, she became inspired by the power of early childhood education and the critical role the early years play in brain development, confidence, and future success.
“North Charleston helped shape who I am,” said Bonneau. “I wanted to create something meaningful that would positively impact children and families for years to come. Palmetto Future Scholars is built on the belief that when children are encouraged to ask questions, explore their world, and develop confidence in themselves, they build the foundation for a successful future.”
Palmetto Future Scholars is built around a philosophy of future-forward learning. Future-forward learning is the belief that what we do today matters for tomorrow. The center recognizes that the early years are some of the most important years in a child’s life, laying the foundation for confidence, relationships, critical thinking, creativity, and future academic success. Palmetto Future Scholars will provide high-quality early learning experiences for children from infancy through preschool through a STEM-focused, curiosity-driven approach. The center will utilize the research-based HighScope Curriculum and create intentional environments where children learn through exploration, hands-on experiences, creativity, and meaningful relationships.
By combining nurturing care, future-forward learning, strong family partnerships, and developmentally appropriate educational experiences, Palmetto Future Scholars aims to help children become confident thinkers, problem-solvers, and future-ready learners. Beyond serving children and families, Bonneau hopes Palmetto Future Scholars will become a valued community partner and an advocate for the importance of Early Childhood Education throughout North Charleston.
